Fashiona has decided that fashion shows are like weddings. Often exorbitant amounts of money is spent, nerves are frayed, pounds are lost(if you are lucky)…all for a few blissful moments in the spotlight.
Fashiona met up with Dina Yassin (an uber-fabulous stylist) to see Alexandre’s show. While waiting in line, Dina is snapping pictures and Fashiona is analyzing the Barbie shrine and is completely captivated for a minute(maybe two, she has a short attention span).

Soon after they are herded in the tent and jockey for a great, decent okay a spot to see the show. Fast forward to the finale because Fashiona had technical difficulties with her camera.
Clap, Clap, Kiss, Kiss and storm the backstage.
No sooner than Dina and Fashiona arrive, this angry Brazilian queenie man was snapping his neck and fingers like in the Madonna Vogue video. Pepé (not his real name) got all extra crispy because he was late and not allowed in the show. His argument was that he was from Rio de Janiero and came all this way to see the show.
Now Fashiona, who is not always the most prompt…is on time when it is absolutely necessary (flights, port calls, weddings, funerals, fashion shows).
Finally Pepé exhausted from yapping away, sashayed away….never to be seen again…till next year.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this scene is possibly repeated season in and season out with every designer and every show and yet they are jam packed…always.

Fashiona took a mini-break from blogging but she is back with lots to say. She is hitting the fashion tents again tomorrow through Friday and will of course bring you her finds.
To recover from her less than stellar day on Friday, she and Topaz went shopping on Saturday to look for masques for Roxie’s Masquerade Ball on February 28th.

Fashiona also bought her first full length gown in about 10 years…BCBG no less. Fashiona prefers cocktail dresses…but dear Topaz (who also waits for the walk sign on cross walks) reminded her that they were going to a Ball…not a cocktail party. Fashiona, who is just a bit stubborn, conceded reluctantly.
Surprisingly, the masque search took much longer than the gown search…they are going for elegant and the shops offered everything from classic to the Venetian masques in Eyes Wide Shut to Madri Gras.
For those who celebrate:
Mardi Gras
is February 24 this year followed by Ash Wednesday.
Back to the New York City Fashion Shows… the Barbie fashion show was the hottest ticket in town.

Well Fashiona wasn’t going to write today because…it was one of the worst days in Fashiona’s NYC existence just wasn’t a day to write home about. Fashiona does not normally buy into the whole Friday 13 myth but her day could have been the Oscar winning script for the next Lifetime movie.
But just as she was about to tune up her pity party violins for the soundtrack…Dad reminded her that she is well loved by a lot of people…sniffle sniffle.
In reality, there is no crying in fashion…it does cause horrible wrinkles and ruins make-up and who has the time! Plus blurred vision and running in high heels does not mix…outside of a movie set.
Yesterday ( a much better day) Fashiona attended the Loris Diran show for the first time and it was lovely. Michelle Obama is on the cover of Vogue and models of color were on the runway too. Good Times.
The men wore fitted suits and cashmere sweaters…it is a Fall show remember. The women were all tall and lanky with very braided hairstyles…an interesting contrast to the flowy gowns and dresses.

The tallest model was over 6 feet and had a bit of trouble with her heels…God bless her…she took them off and kept walking without missing a stride and received a rousing applause from tough to impress fashion followers.

And well deserved because in the immortal words of Scarlett O’Hara…..drum roll please…” Tomorrow is another day.”

The not so secret is out:
Michelle Obama is on the cover of March’s Vogue.
Fashiona has been a subscriber of Vogue for years and she looks forward to the new issue every month. She has yet to receive her March issue but she knows that it is in the mail.

The famed photographer Anne Leibovitz (took the infamous shot a very pregnant Demi Moore
in her pre-Ashton days) took the cover shot and and several pages inside.
Michelle is wearing a dress by Jason Wu, the same designer she wore for the Inauguration Balls.
Fashiona, along with the rest of the Obama voyeurs, is looking to seeing the rest of the photo spread and reading André Leon Talley’s interview with her. Between André’s extraness and Michelle’s directness…it is bound to be a good read.
Ciao for now…Fashiona is off to cover her first show this Fashion Week~Loris Diran.
