Oh…who will dress Michelle Obama for Inauguration Day?
The nation’s new sweethearts Malia and little ham Sasha had their first day at the prestigious Sidwell Friends. The media from CNN to NBC was out and about to record the last hugs and kisses by their parents and then trailed their motorcade to their respective campuses. By all accounts their first day was a rousing success.
Next up the ongoing question: Who will the Obama ladies wear for their big day?
In December, seasoned designers sent their ideas into the Washington Post and the Women’s Wear Daily. It is only fitting that student designers have their say too. Fashiona thanks her Mom for tipping her off to this story from USA Today. Fashion students from Marymount University in Arlington, VA sent in their sketches. Click here to see their submissions and Tim Gunn’s sometimes snarky comments.
On the professional side, Diane von Furstenberg’s elegant white dress would accent Michelle’s rich coloring.
and Oscar de la Renta’s trifecta is just hard to resist:
One two three…awwwwwwwwww!!

I like the second one but can’t stand all those ruffles on the blue dress. The first drawing for Michelle looks dated back to the 1960’s.
She seems to not love her hips, so Im sure she will be wanting a design to minimize that.
I just can’t wait to see what they wear
They are such a beautiful family.
