Today Fashiona trekked all over lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn while making deals on the phone in the cold to help Mr. Baller…no of course that not is his real name find an apartment. He is here in the NY working on some condo construction….apparently the recession hasn’t reached him.
They saw a few nice places but the Yoo by Starck located on Wall Street was just ridiculously plush.
Yep, that is just the lobby. Mr. Baller is the type where money isn’t a problem…must be nice.
They are friends…sis did know him first… but CLEARLY they are in different budget stratospheres. Fashiona does indeed wear designer clothes whenever possible that she begs, borrows or steals finds at amazing deals and…well Mr. Baller summers in Dubai
.
Getting to know him is like a crash course in Rich Dad, Poor Dad…the next book on Fashiona’s list.
While he is looking at more super fabulous apartments with closets as big as her entire studio tomorrow, Fashiona is going to the Undisputed Talent Show at The Delancey with Day. The show is a like American Idol, Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model all in one…with major prizes in each category.
Farrah Bhalloo (one of the featured designers) has appeared in Fashiona’s searches so the curious girl that she is…she decided to investigate. Farrah started her clothing line at the tender age of 19. She is heavily influenced by nature’s simple elegance.
The Belle Dress from Farrah’s Summer Collection.

Fashiona will be watching and taking notes while Day is snapping pictures at the show tomorrow night…and report back of course.
Stay tuned.
***Fashiona thanks all her top droppers and advertisers. ***

Okay so Fashiona was talking to Topaz last night. Gone are the days where they gab about men…well not really they still talk about men but last night’s gab session also included tax filing woes and carb cravings. For the record Topaz is much more disciplined when it comes to carbs but she does have a crazy sweet tooth; Fashiona has actually fantasized about macaroni and cheese and fettuccine alfredo.
Anywhoo…the gossip magazines are loaded with crazy diets ie. the Master Cleanse cayenne pepper diet…and the that stars have tried them…Beyoncé dropping 20 lbs. for her role in Dreamgirls…thankfully her curves are back. As a former model, Fashiona does concede that the camera does “add” 10 pounds but liquid diets as in NO solid food… no thanks…but she does fully believe in cardio, a relatively healthy diet and the attributes of Spanx.
In all seriousness, Fashiona admits her own vanity and knows that body image is part of larger issue of standards of beauty. She has written about Barbie twice and those posts are STILL some of the most popular. In the Barbie vs. Bratz post, she explained why ethnic looking Bratz and Barbie dolls are so important; they help young impressionable girls understand that THEY are beautiful whether they are inky black like Alex Wek
or as pale as Nicole Kidm
an
or somewhere in the middle like Indian beauty Aishwarya Rai
During a dinner party Fashiona attended this past New Year’s Eve, she was appalled to learn that women worldwide are STILL endangering their health by using bleaching creams
to lighten their skin…not just Black women, Asian and Indian women also. This is so unacceptable…and sad really…in this supposedly modern age.
Fashiona grew up with the mantra(Thanks Mom) “Good hair is on your head and bad hair is on the floor” and she would like to offer this saying:
“Good skin is healthy skin and well moisturized…um still no excuse for ashiness.”

Fashiona will be first to tell you that she is not a reality TV fan…she has written about this before. However there is a show that she will DVR: Harlem Heights. It is fitting that the show comes in the Year of the Ox.
Why this show…she was at a recent taping and quite impressed. Great clothes -check, well done make up - check and thankfully, no- wanna -be -baby- mamas -of -rich-athletes in sight. These 20 somethings are smart, ambitious and about making their dreams happen through old-fashion hard work and the art of networking.
Each Harlem Heights episode will document the lives and dreams of eight 20-somethings. The cast consists of the ex-girlfriend of an international music star; a budding lifestyle editor for a magazine; a struggling actress; a young man with a troubled family; a young father who is a native to Harlem; the hard-partying son of a prominent Harlem political leader; an aspiring lawyer with big ambitions; and a driven fashionista.
Harlem Heights premiers on March 2 on at BET 10 pm/ ET. Starting in February in honor of Black History Month, BET.com will have more details.

Yes…Alicia was soft and pink the other day but Fashiona and her snarkiness is back with a vengeance.
Bravo Michelle…between the off the shoulder dress by Jason Wu and the just enough amount of jewelry by Loree Rodkin …and that handsome husband on your arm…you looked absolutely beautiful.
Fashiona was a bit nervous about what she was going to wear after that monstrosity of a dress she wore at the Democratic Convention…you know you thinking that too.
Incidentally, Fashiona also liked the gold two piece outfit that Michelle wore during the day designed by Cuban born Isabel Todelo.
News photoThat… ladies and gents is a hat designed by Luke Song from Detroit. Church ladies everywhere are looking for similar styles. Ladies… just a reminder Aretha’s voice does not come with the hat.
Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé….
Nice dress by Armani Prive but seriously Fashiona thinks even Stevie Wonder saw the headlights.Umm…tape em please or wear a bra…your choice.
Oh Mariah… you are perpetually 12 and you have married a man-child…but my dear YOU do not have a 12 year old body. Please start wearing your size…meaning you should be able to walk and sit down.

Jill Biden had teeny weeny verbal slip up when talking to Oprah but had a major fashion win with Reem Acra.
