Fashiona on Celebrity Clothing Lines
Fashiona was invited to a very posh launch party at the Soho House Library last night…but just had too many conflicts. Yes, she does have a practical bone in her body ok maybe two. Anywhoo, it was to launch 365-a new clothing line. If she was there she would have the scoop already but now she has to hunt for it and she will. Just look at what she missed and shed a tear for her..

Soho House
The scene: Blame the Hollywood honchos and media bigs who inhabit this Brit import for the current caste-system craze.
Membership cost: $$$$the first year (includes tax and a first-time $$$ registration fee); $$$$ plus tax every year after that.
Application process: Applications require a “proposer,” a “seconder,” and a “recent photo,” and are accepted, rejected, or put on waiting list by committee vote.
Club privileges: Amenities include a cinema, spa, and dining room, plus event invites, guest privileges, and access to that infamous rooftop.
The VIPs: Nicole Kidman, Graydon Carter, Uma Thurman, Robert DeNiro, Salma Hayek.
Fashiona has been keeping an eye out on the latest celebrity clothing launches. Sadly it seems that famous or infamous + halfway attractive = clothing line? No.NO. NO not in Fashiona’s book of snobbery. Attractive does not equal style…automatically so let’s examine the list of celebrity clothing lines:
- Gwen Stefani-
L.A.M.B. is doing well, very well. Gwen has a recognizable look and has the design aesthetic to keep a fashion house fresh.

- Beyoncé
The new Mrs. Jay-Z is revamping (thankfully) the House of Deréon label into an eveningwear line. Fashiona will withhold her verdict.
- Pete Wenz - Fashiona does not get this one. True, this rocker is newly married to Ashlee Simpson and expecting twins but HE gets a clothing line? Apparently DKNY Jeans gets it and is banking on his success as a “wildly popular rock star”.
- Janet Jackson’s lingerie line-
but otherwise no comment
Ok Obama clearly won the debate in all parts: style, persona and yes intelligent answers to the actual questions. Michelle…Fashiona loves you but wasn’t feeling your outfit last night…too Christmas-like too early…but she will forgive you just this once.

I thought Michele looked Christmasy too! I think it was all the pins or embellishment (not sure which it actually was) around the neckline. Very Tis The Season.

Fashiona is feeling the love on this post. Thanks all
I do love Gwen’s line. She personifies that line.
Now I am hoping that the House of Dereon improves because I like Beyonce and I think with the right business and marketing direction, it could work.
Janet launched a lingerie line. Yes, you too can wear Janet’s undies…hmm there is something so wrong about that. Janet, honey you are in your 40’s, you couldn’t start a jewelry or something classy.????
Jai, you got me with Master P having a ladies line? Let me guess big booty girls in too tiny shorts with heels they can barely walk in. I predict it will be a hot mess… with hot sauce on the side.

Here is a receipe for starting a clothing line with your name:
Your face on the cover of a national magazine or a gossip tabloid and absolutely no fashion sense.
I just heard that Britney Spears has a reality show in the works. Wait til that is successful and then she would announce her clothing line…
