Fashiona shares: How to wear heels the smart way

So the ladies weighed in yesterday…

And even the tall girls (rock on Kelly) wear proudly their heels because they like them and heels give them a boost (literally and spiritually). Now that Fashiona and her friend Topaz have heel wearing company, Fashiona is prepared to share her tips for actually wearing them on a long term basis.

First work out, the stronger you are, the better you can handle anything. Plus it helps your posture, essential for maximizing the heel wearing experience. Ask the construction workers.

Second, don’t buy shoes that are too tight or too small. Yes, they are beautiful and they might be on the last pair on the rack, so take picture if you must…but put them down and walk away.

Now Fashiona is legendary for wearing heels so much so that one of her nicknames is “Clickers”, a reference to her fast footsteps… but even she wouldn’t buy or wear shoes that are too small. The easiest way to ensure this doesn’t happen is to buy shoes in the afternoon rather than the morning. By the afternoon, your feet have swelled a bit. Also for peep toes and patent leather shoes, you might want to go up 1/2 a size from your normal shoes because they don’t stretch as much as regular leather shoes.

Third, break your shoes in before officially wearing them, like on a date, a wedding or all day at work. To break them in wear them around the house for about 10 minutes a day, for a few days prior to your big event.

Finally, you are ready. Now in the words of RuPaul “I have one thing to say, sashay shante, shante, shante, shante“.

Just bring your flats or flip flops just in case. Fashiona has had walk across the Manhattan bridge twice (once during the 2003 blackout) and yes, she wore her emergency flats.

    Very good tips.

I had a pair of GORGEOUS Nina shoes for a wedding and I wore them with sock around the house for over a month to stretch them and break them in before the wedding.

I want a glass case to display them they are so beautiful. Like Cinderella’s slippers, but prettier! :D

Emergency flats are a blessing. They come in quite handy at weddings when your feet feel like they’re goin to break off.
