Fashiona certainly does not need a reason to shop for any bling but when she can add to her accessory wardrobe AND support a good cause…it just makes her day.

Yes, Fashiona has already whined about the heat in New York City and knowing her will continue to do so until is she is sufficiently distracted. While people watching is one of her hobbies, normally TV is not. She listens to it more than she actually watches it, occasionally focusing if she feels that the show merits her full attention.

Unfortunately, Fonzworth Bentley’s From Gs to Gents seems like a must miss to Fashiona and her readers.

Fashiona did find a show that might suit her and those reading: Makeover Manor on TV One.

It is hosted by Mikki Taylor, the beauty editor at Essence magazine. What Fashiona likes about the show (other than ugly duckling to the swan transformations) is the whole life transformation that Mikki and her glam squad offer.

In addition to the battery of make up artists including Sam Fine and the fashion team, this show boast a nutritionist, a fitness expert and a life coach. Fashiona will be watching.

Fashiona has been living in New York for 10 years now and has developed a love hate relationship with the city. She hates the high rent and little closets and ever dirty subways. She loves the shopping, people watching, the fast pace, the never ending food choices, the shopping, international man parade

and oh yes did I mention the shopping.

People watching is a constant hobby for Fashiona which she developed at an early age. She used to play this game where she would look at people and guess what type of work they did, where they lived and what their home life was like. A fun game that honed her imagination and her critiquing skills.

Now Fashiona plays the fashion critic wherever she goes, the movies, the grocery store, work and walking through the neighborhood. In her head, she writes fashion tickets all day long (see May 31st post).

The worst thing that Fashiona keeps seeing year in and year out are skirts that are wider than they are long. Where are their friends or their mother?

Why… somebody please tell me??

For Fashiona wedding and baby shower invitations arrive about 2 years apart. This year, she is juggling both. Now dressing for baby showers is relatively easy especially when they are surprise ones and thrown at work- no special outfit needed. Now weddings…let the shopping begin.

Her latest 2 invitations: one is for next week and one in October an evening wedding. Next week’s is a small NYC affair inside a brownstone on the Upper West side. Yes, the dress is bought but how did she decide what to get?

Fashiona is actually a guest of the groom’s friend so the pressure is on. These are his friends and she knows that she is on…display. She also knows that the women are much harsher critics.

Weather… hot hot hot and humid as it is every July in New York.

Tone of the Wedding… Small but elegant and starts at noon - that rules out flowery dresses with floppy hats

His attire…still looking for a summer suit and Fashiona is supervising
