Fashiona’s College Choice
There was never any doubt that Fashiona would go to college, both her parents were college graduates and had met in college. Fashiona still views men as accessories and therefore not yet interesting in pursuing her MRS. Degree. The outstanding questions for her were: which one and what would be her major.
In Fashiona’s 17 years, she has lived on a military bases overseas, New York, Florida and an affluent DC suburb. She relishes a new environment where she will be the majority and chooses an HBCU in Florida. Shows like A Different World and School Days help cement her choice and prove helpful in sharing the news with her less than pleased guidance counselor. Her choice also has an excellent business program and is a 14 hour drive from home, two pluses in Fashiona’s book. Fashiona having done her research knows that academically, HBCUs are similar to other universities, the biggest distinction is the social world. No flip flop parades here, dressing for class is a competition. Fashiona has all Summer to prepare…
