Is 30 the truly the new 20?
Diesel (no not the fuel but the Italian denim super brand). turned 30 today and they are as sexy as they were on day 1. The marketing geniuses that they are, they built a whole line around the big day “Dirty Thirty.”

Fashiona has designed denim collections for years and she views Diesel as a denim icon.
Yes their prices are high but they are so worth it. The quality of the fabric is amazing and expensive: Italian and Japanese denim are among the best in the world. Diesel still puts in a lot of hand-finishes; making every jean unique but still signature Diesel .
And their stores… the displays are ALWAYS incredible and completely you draw in (which is the whole point).

Fashiona often talks about the perks of living in New York: the many diverse cultures, great varied foods and the celebrity sightings; it almost makes the sky rent worth it.
Yesterday Fashiona was running errands and stopped for lunch at a little place near Union Square. When she walked in she saw Julianne Moore with her friend eating lunch. Fashiona has actually seen her many times, she actually rides the subway sometimes blending with all the other beautiful redheads.

She, like countless other celebrities, enjoy coming to New York because they can blend in more than LA.
And Fashiona had every intention of respecting her privacy…
but then this wanna be porn star complete with the fake baked skin and super low rise cargo pants and the cheapest red heels worthy of ” a lady of the evening” walked in with fake breasts so high they had a life of their own.
Julianne and her friend had this super shocked expression on her face and looked dead at Fashiona. They had a moment so Fashiona walked to her and asked her what she thought. Julianne said she wasn’t used to seeing THAT in NY. They shared a chuckle and Fashiona told her that she loved her work.
What a lunch time treat!!

Fashiona was invited to a very posh launch party at the Soho House Library last night…but just had too many conflicts. Yes, she does have a practical bone in her body ok maybe two. Anywhoo, it was to launch 365-a new clothing line. If she was there she would have the scoop already but now she has to hunt for it and she will. Just look at what she missed and shed a tear for her..
As taken from http://nymag.com/nymetro/nightlife/barbuzz/11507/
Soho House
The scene: Blame the Hollywood honchos and media bigs who inhabit this Brit import for the current caste-system craze.
Membership cost: $$$$the first year (includes tax and a first-time $$$ registration fee); $$$$ plus tax every year after that.
Application process: Applications require a “proposer,” a “seconder,” and a “recent photo,” and are accepted, rejected, or put on waiting list by committee vote.
Club privileges: Amenities include a cinema, spa, and dining room, plus event invites, guest privileges, and access to that infamous rooftop.
The VIPs: Nicole Kidman, Graydon Carter, Uma Thurman, Robert DeNiro, Salma Hayek.
Fashiona has been keeping an eye out on the latest celebrity clothing launches. Sadly it seems that famous or infamous + halfway attractive = clothing line? No.NO. NO not in Fashiona’s book of snobbery. Attractive does not equal style…automatically so let’s examine the list of celebrity clothing lines:
- Gwen Stefani-
L.A.M.B. is doing well, very well. Gwen has a recognizable look and has the design aesthetic to keep a fashion house fresh.

- Beyoncé
The new Mrs. Jay-Z is revamping (thankfully) the House of Deréon label into an eveningwear line. Fashiona will withhold her verdict.
- Pete Wenz - Fashiona does not get this one. True, this rocker is newly married to Ashlee Simpson and expecting twins but HE gets a clothing line? Apparently DKNY Jeans gets it and is banking on his success as “Not only is Pete a “wildly popular rock star”.
- Janet Jackson’s lingerie line-
but otherwise no comment
Ok Obama clearly won the debate in all parts: style, persona and yes intelligent answers to the actual questions. Michelle…Fashiona loves you but wasn’t feeling your outfit last night…too Christmas-like too early…but she will forgive you just this once.

As much as Fashiona enjoys commiserating about fashion, herself and her friends’ lives, she is also very curious about other people lives. Blogging is virtual diary for many people and each entry is a snap shot about what they are thinking. Just like looking at your account balance on-line, you can immediately see and stress over what you owe vs you don’t have…yet.
Fashiona’s favorite blogs are those that seem passionately honest with a humorous edge. She is partial to style blogs (there are four on her list) but she also likes personal and mixed bag blogs.
Kelly from 30 something awarded Fashiona the coveted “I love you Blog” award in September. Again the rules are to pass the award to 7 other blogs that you love.
Fashiona’s picks: (in no particular order)

- Chic Galleria -The go-to magazine for all personal care, beauty, and fashion-related must-haves
- New York Chica - NY, Movies, Motherhood, Marriage, Saving $$$, Reviews, Favorites, TV, Coffee talk & my life. Her rants are hilarious.
- Live Passionately - You can feel your blood pressure drop as you read her words and look at the relaxing pictures….ahhhhhhh!
- Swagger Style - A fashion blog written by a guy
- Funky Brown Chick - Not for kids, Twanna talks about grown folks issues and she brings the funny.
- From Brooklyn to Paris - ahh to be
19 20 again and going to Design School in Paris
- Afrobella - the name says a lot- The rest is about beauty, fashion, music and more.
Did you check out Fashiona’s Tip of the Day?
